about

Texas Red is the name given to the albums’ central character and conduit through which the listener experiences it’s themes. Anyone familiar with the Marty Robbins song ‘Big Iron’ from which the name has been appropriated will know Texas is not the good guy. He’s a young outlaw, pursued by an Arizona Ranger for the crime of 20 counts of murder. Consequently one of our themes is atonement, and this song sets the precedent of Texas’ journey. We often react poorly to the worst moments in our life, be it revenge, depression or self destruction, and this record asks the question, how far gone does someone have to be to be beyond salvation? Texas recognises the poor life he’s led as a result of an extreme reaction to a traumatic event, and wrestles with feeling both justified but knowing he wants to find forgiveness and ultimately, become a better person.
